Start here
New to BodhiTree entirely? Read What is BodhiTree? first; it is two minutes and tells you what the rest of the site is about.
Teaching a course? Read Chapter 1, then Chapter 2, and set up a course before reading further.
Setting up a course for a new term? 2. Creating and Setting Up a Course → 3. People and Enrollment → 4. Course Content: the Multimedia Book. Reuse last term’s material with Import Chapters.
Running an exam? 6. Exams and Proctoring in full, before the day.
Working out grades? 7. Grades and the Gradebook first; it will probably change how you set up your assessment.
Contributing code? Overview is mandatory reading, then Platform Setup & Installation.
Five things that surprise people
There is no grade weighting. Every mark goes into one flat pool. To make a category count more, give it more marks.
Instructor and STA are identical in power. The role is derived from course ownership, not chosen. Only the creator keeps extra rights.
Unpublished content is invisible, not greyed out. “I can’t find the assignment” almost always means unpublished.
Two devices at a time. A third sign-in silently logs you out everywhere else.
The Recycle Bin only covers Programming activities. Quiz and Virtual activities are deleted permanently.
Conventions
Bold marks something you click or type.
Italic quotes are messages BodhiTree shows you, word for word.
⚠️ blocks flag destructive actions and behaviour that commonly catches people out.
Every User Guide chapter ends with Known limitations: features that are absent, partial, or behave unexpectedly. These are documented deliberately so you do not lose time hunting for something that is not there.
